ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENTS

Botulinum toxic type A or Botox® as it’s better known can dramatically reduce lines and wrinkles. Botox® is injected via a tiny needle directly into the muscle of specific areas requiring the treatment. No anaesthetic is required as the treatment is virtually painless.

Botox® is most commonly used to treat frown lines, crows’ feet and forehead lines.

Botox® temporarily relaxes the muscle stopping them from contracting thus softening lines and wrinkles creating a smooth finish. Treatment can take up to 10 days to work properly and will last approximately 3 months.

LINE AND WRINKLE TREATMENTS

Botox Botulinum toxic type A is better known as Botox and injections of this can dramatically reduce lines and wrinkles. Botox is most commonly used to treat frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines. Dysport Botox is very similar to Botox but is found to disperse (spread) more around the injected areas, Dysport is therefore very effective for forehead lines and wrinkles.

Azzalurealso contains botulinum toxin A, which causes muscles to relax. Azzalure acts at the junction between the nerves and muscle to prevent the release of a chemical messenger called acetylcholine from the nerve endings. Azzalure can be used in adults under 65 years to temporarily improve the appearance of any moderate to severe glabellar lines. These are the vertical frown lines between the eyebrows.

BOTOX TREATMENT – ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENT

The ideal non-surgical method for the treatment of overactive facial muscles, a cause of facial lines, wrinkles, and furrows.

It does not replace surgery in all cases and will have minimal or no effect on static fixed facial lines and wrinkles that are already permanently etched into the skin and which on moderate stretching of the skin remain clearly visible.

Botox treatment resistance is described and poor results do occasionally occur.

Following injection the full clinical effect within 3 to 5 days, and lasts approximately 3 months, though in some patients this effect is shorter Botulium A toxin has been safely used for 20 years, and since 1994 increasingly in aesthetic / cosmetic surgery.

It may be used either as a primary treatment, or to improve a surgical result.

COMMONEST COSMETIC INDICATIONS:

• Upper third facial and frown line i.e. on the forehead, brows and across the nasal bridge. Ideal in the 30 to 50 years group with the lines due to overactive muscles actively, rather than loss of skin elasticity.
• Crows feet lines the ideal treatment area.
• Other indications

POST-TREATMENT ADVICE

• DO NOT lie down or massage the injected area for at least 3 hours.

• Contract the injected muscle every 15 minuets for a few hours after treatment.

COMPLICATIONS

Possible side affects may include temporary discomfort, numbness, bruising and transient headaches as well as a rare (less than 3%) reversible 2-4 weeks “drooping eyelid”.

Botox usage is contra-indicated during pregnancy, lactation, myasthenia gravis, bleeding disorders, known hypersensitivity, anti-coagulation, and when taking certain anti-biotic. PLEASE ASK!
